The Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Security has established the minimum wage by issuing a official notice on 17th August, 2023.
As per the official notice, for workers other than those in tea plantations, the monthly basic stands at 10,820, accompanied by a dearness allowance of 6,480, resulting in a combined total of 17,300. Similarly, the daily basic wage amounts to 418, supplemented by a dearness allowance of 250, culminating in a total daily minimum wage of 668.
The hourly minimum wage is defined at 89 per hour, comprising a basic wage of 56 and a dearness allowance of 33. In the scenario of part-time workers, the hourly minimum wage is fixed at Rs 95.
Likewise, for tea plantation workers, the established monthly basic salary is 8,934, accompanied by a dearness allowance of 4,959, resulting in a minimum total salary of 13,893.
On a daily basis, the basic salary amounts to 323, with a dearness allowance of 177, summing up to a total minimum salary of 500. For hourly work arrangements, a basic wage of 43, a dearness allowance of 23, and a total of 66 have been stipulated.
