About the Position
Overview and core mission of this role
The Inventory Accountant is responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and maintaining all physical and system-based inventory data. This role ensures stock accuracy, minimizes wastage or discrepancies, reconciles physical counts with general ledger balances, and provides management with accurate cost valuation analysis.
Key Responsibilities
What you will own and drive forward day-to-day
- ✓Stock Tracking & Maintenance: Maintain real-time records of incoming shipments, outgoing stock, returns, damaged items, and transfer orders across all warehouses and outlets.
- ✓Reconciliation & Auditing: Organize and conduct weekly/monthly physical stock counts; investigate and report discrepancies between physical stock and ERP/accounting records.
- ✓Valuation & Cost Analysis: Calculate land costs, unit costs, inventory turnover rates, and obsolescence reserves; assist in cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) computations.
- ✓Documentation & Verification: Review and verify purchase orders, store receipts, dispatch notes, and vendor invoices against physical receipts.
- ✓Coordination & Reporting: Work closely with storekeepers, warehouse managers, and the core finance team to streamline inventory workflows and publish weekly stock reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
Skills and background we are looking for
- ✓Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies (BBS/BBA), or equivalent.
- ✓1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in inventory accounting, auditing, or warehouse cost control.
- ✓Proficiency in accounting ERP software (e.g., Tally Prime, Swastik, FinAct) and advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data reconciliation).
- ✓Strong numerical skill, high detail orientation, and sound analytical ability.
